#CNOS3 Challenge #2 : The Nomnom Challenge

Hello Humans!

As you guys know, I've been shortlisted for CNOS3
and this year's challenges are slightly different from last year!
The challenges just gets more and more intense as it get released to us one by one!

So this would be the first Challenge I'll be blogging about,

Basically, our task for this challenge was to 偷师 (Learn) from the Chef of Charlie Brown

HOW TO MAKE A PANCAKE

I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING,
"Wa, so easy ah! I also can. So boring."

No.

It wasn't as easy as it seemed, not even a bit.
EVERY. SINGLE. STEP. WAS. TOUGH.

Hereby introducing the Chef, our 师父 (mentor)!

So here comes the demo by our mentor of the day!

Look at how even the color of the pancake was!!

ARE YOU EXCITED TO SEE THE MASTERPIECE OF THE CHEF?
(Though you prolly get to see it every other day cause their pancakes look almost exactly the same every single time)

I SWEAR SHE MADE IT SEEM SO EASY TO DO
because she did it with no kick!

Now then,
It's our team's turn to get our hands on with it!

We decided to appoint Joan as our Chef of the day!
Sophia in charge of sifting the powder, and me, decorating the plates!

We weren't allowed to make other shapes/plate designs so we tried our best to follow to as similar to the chef's standard as possible, which was really hard!!
(Else I could've done some Moe drawing on the plate hue hue)

P.S. Don't judge!! It really wasn't easy at all I swear!

AND HERE COMES OUR NEXT MENTOR OF THE DAY

Really glad that Misstamchiak was around and came by to offer us suggestions and tips on how to take a better food photo! It really enlightened me (as the appointed camera person for the team) and I hopefully absorbed some tips from her to come out with our best shot!

SO ARE YOU READY TO SEE OUR FINAL PRODUCT?
(Aka. Our Best Shot)

NOT TOO BAD RIGHT!
(You're not allowed to say no.)

So yeah, it didn't turn out as ideal as we easily thought it would. But it didn't turn out that bad either!

And now, the nerve wrecking part - where we get judged!

Chef takes a look at our pancake's outlook, cuts open our pancakes to see if it's cooked..
And.............turnedoutthatitwasntcookedafterall.

HAHA.

But we scored like a 6/10 from her!
Which was pretty rewarding taking into consideration it was the first time for all 3 of us.

And here is our process/after thoughts on it!

A N D  N O W

I ' m  h e r e  t o  g i v e  y o u  g u y s  s o m e  t i p s  o n  h o w  t o

T A K E  A  G O O D  " F O O D  S E L F I E "!

P.S. These are just my personal views & habits on food photography, I ain't no pro in it!

I personally fancy 16:9 ratio photos A LOT.
It just seem more HD, somehow.

The basic golden rule of photography!
Somehow things always seem nicer at a corner! Hahaha!

Lighting plays a MAJOR factor in a good photo.
I personally prefer natural sunlit photos or under a gentle warm lighting.

I love details a lot.
So whenever I take pictures, I'd love to take close ups with micro details of the food, blurring out the others in the background.

Yes, I do edit my photos, ALL my photos in fact.
The reason of editing isn't to alter the things in there, but to enhance the colors.

A camera is after all a camera (plus not everyone uses a DSLR).
The camera doesn't capture the right color/texture of the food sometimes and it'll do major injustice to it!
Which is why I always insist on editing all my photos.

Sometimes when everybody posts pictures of food with too many deco beside it,

S I M P L I C I T Y
Stands Out.

Find a pretty*coughs* girl to take photo with the food!

Ok, the last part was a joke.
It was just an excuse for me to post my selfie.

But yeah, this is all I have for you guys today!

"But first, let us take a selfie!"

Okay, gone.
